The Welfare Appeals Committee rules on appeals lodged in connection with administrative decisions as provided for in laws which allow for appeals to be made to the committee. The appeals committee is independent and autonomous in its work. The Welfare Appeals Committee method of work and procedures are based on the Welfare Appeals Committee Act, No. 85/2015.

Appeal (digital) – To send an appeal digitally to the committee you will need a digital certificate. If you send the appeal digitally the committee will communicate with you through the website. When sending the appeal to the committee you will need to include the government decision that you are appealing. Processing time of the appeal is quicker if you appeal digitally. Appeal (pdf) – If you do not have a digital certificate you can send the appeal by mail or bring it to the office of the Welfare Appeals Committee at Katrínartún 2, 105 Reykjavík. Tel. 551-8200. In summertime the phone at the office of the Welfare Appeals Committee is closed from July 3 to August 7. Please note that the office’s service desk at Katrínartún is open in July between 10:00-12:00 on Tuesdays to Thursdays.
